The Comhaltas Traditional Music Archive

The Comhaltas Traditional Music Archive comprises the recordings, documents and images collected by Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann during our 50 years of promoting Irish music and culture.

Our Archive is housed and curated within a network of Regional Resource Centres, with local specialists on hand to catalogue the unique music of each area. If you would like to work with the Archive in its entirety, you are very welcome to visit any of the Centres and sign up for your account. The collection of archival material is ongoing since 1994 and a very extensive collection of music, folklore, songs, videos, photographs has been compiled. Our archive room contains approximately 16,000 original non commercial recordings of traditional Irish musicians and singers, as well as 5,000 photographs and many other interesting and historic data and musical instruments.

We are constantly seeking to update our data base with new “old” recordings, whether they be audio or video. Our library of books continues to grow in number. Have you any old recordings, films, books, instruments? Would you like to donate them to our archive? We can process all types of recordings and reproduce them in CD or DVD format and can return the originals.
